True to tradition, Thursday’s School Day at the International Belgrade Book Fair and the Education and Teaching Tools Fair drew a vibrant crowd, spanning from tender-age schoolchildren and university students to educators, professors, and librarians united by a shared devotion to learning and literature.
School Day was formally opened by Ivan Ćilerdžić, Assistant Minister of Education for Preschool and Primary Education, voicing his delight at the privilege of addressing attendees on what marks one of the crown jewels of this multi-day manifestation.
“This year’s fair gathers numerous exhibitors from the country and abroad, offering a rich program for visitors of all generations. I am particularly pleased that this day is dedicated to students, teachers, fellow librarians, and everyone who contributes daily to the development of a reading culture and a love for knowledge. The Ministry of Education supports such events with special pleasure, as we believe that investing in education is not only an investment in knowledge but also in the character, responsibility, creativity, and future of every child,” Ćilerdžić stated.
Inviting visitors to also visit the booth of the Ministry of Education, a long-standing patron of the Education and Teaching Tools Fair, Ćilerdžić emphasized that the program under the slogan “The Future Begins with Knowledge” showcases the diversity of the educational system, as well as the effort and dedication of the people who work within it.
Renowned children’s and young-adult authors are actively engaging with their audience—holding lively literary circles, signing copies, and bringing stories to life through dedicated workshops. Encounters with authors and direct contact with books offer young readers an opportunity to discover new titles, meet literary creators, and foster an interest in reading.
Nevewtheless, the quest for one’s favorite literature does not end with School Day. Throughout all nine days of the manifestation, visitors have the chance to explore the rich offerings of domestic and foreign publishers, find new editions, discover unfamiliar authors, or return to beloved literary masterpieces. After all, at the Book Fair, every generation can find something for themselves, for within these walls, a single moment shared with a book possesses the quiet power to script the opening chapter of a lifelong passion.
Both manifestations will run until Saturday, October 31, in the halls of the Belgrade Fair.
The opening hours are from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and the price of an individual ticket is 450 RSD.
